Cherry Blossom Cake
Vanilla and Chocolate checkerboard cake with buttercream frosting and vanilla fondant.
I made this cake for a “Girls Night Out” potluck dinner. All the flowers were hand made two days ahead of putting the cake together.
I know there are pans out there specifically for creating this fun checkerboard cake design but this is easily done without it.
Make four cake layers, two chocolate and two pink coloured vanilla, and stacked them in alternating flavours. Then cut all four layers in four concentric circles.
Once the cake is cut take it apart and within each layer alternate chocolate, vanilla, chocolate, vanilla rings, then stack each layer on top of each other with frosting between (here I used chocolate frosting) and voila you have a checkerboard cake design!
